SANDRA KLUGE is a human being. Her pursuit is to live the happiesthealthiest, most authentic, most fulfilling, most curious, most colorful life so she can meet the world with those same qualities. She does this through music, visual art, design, and various entrepreneurial projects.

MUSIC

As an internationally sought-after tap percussionist, she is known for her unique approach to tap as a music instrument.
She writes, records, and performs her own original music, in which tap is the exclusive percussive instrument, in both solo and collaborative contexts. Sandra deconstructs the classic tap vocabulary in order to be a full member of the rhythm section, rather than just a special effect. Working both on stage and in the studio, her tap-based music can be listened to on all major streaming platforms.

Sandra's performance highlights include various collaborations with Thomas Marek, the tap ahead festival, Swiss Tap Days, Düsseldorf Photo Weekend, Symphony Space, Judson Church, Festival de Musique Improvisée de Lausanne, Basilica Hudson, and many more. She has been an artist in residence at the American Tap Dance Foundation.

She has been invited to teach at renowned institutions such as the legendary tap ahead festival at tanzhaus nrw, tap club Cologne, and Soundspace Philadelphia, and to be a teaching artist in residence at Thomas Marek's Studio Footprints. She is currently on faculty at Tap Dance Central and Mark Morris Dance Center. In addition, Sandra teaches private lessons in person and virtually, working with students from around the world, and helping them to become better musicians with their tap shoes.

Her work has been featured on the Tap Love Tour Podcast, German Tap Magazine, Dance Advantage, Dance Writer Australia, Canvas Rebel, Vocalo Radio, the Relative Rhythms Podcast, The Other Side Reviews, Spinning Platters, and others.

Sandra is the only tap percussionist to be an alumna of the Art Omi Music Fellowship Program and was commissioned by the International Contemporary Ensemble for her composition "Anything = Everything".

ART

Sandra’s visual art practice encompasses drawings, collages, illustration, and design.

With her work, she wants to celebrate the beauty of life that exists even in our darkest moments. For her, the appreciation of beauty is a vehicle to deeply connect with one’s own inner light and therefore project love, kindness, and openness into the world. Sandra works quickly and intuitively, improvising and remaining open to what the materials want to do.

Her work has been shown in the Average Art Magazine, Not Random Art, ArtKnews, Advice for Artists' Artfest, and at the Mother of Pearl Collective art show.
